Students participate in a thematic story-time exploration of ABCs and color visually integrating colors of the rainbow and prism.
Name letters will correspond with simple booklet form folded projects that each student creates using counting, numbers, and colors in pagination sequence. Formats include: greeting card (french fold one-sheet), simple z-fold (one-sheet accordion), simple gate-fold (simple two-fold). Brief overview of types of books with tactile samples.

Students are presented with various book formats such as paperback and hardback examples. Basic variety samples of childrens' books are explored with tangible examples. Basic Parts of the Book are simplified and demonstrated providing tangible examples. Brief discussion "Who Loves Books?," "Our Favorite Books," "Where Do Books Come From?," culminating in "Let's Make A Book Today!"
Students select from two themes and create simple folded format books. Formats include: one-sheet french fold, simple z-fold accordion, simple gate-fold, simple bound, origami.
Participants create and collage a portfolio envelope to transport their books.
Ideal for libraries, schools, community centers, and enrichment programs.
In greater depth corresponding to grade level, students learn Parts of the Book, format (paperback and hardbound/cloth) and binding styles, create content selecting from two themes, and create both folded, stapled, and sewn mini-booklets depending on session duration.
Broader overview spanning main types of binding (sewn/stapled/glued), paper with tangible examples (coated vs uncoated /glossy "shiny or "matt"vs uncoated textured, and paper sources such as forests and paper mills.)
Students participating in 3-hour session also design and create their "clam shell" case for storing and transporting their projects.
Ideal for libraries, bookclubs, camps, enrichment programs.
"BIBLIOPHILES" love the book object itself, whereas, bookworms love the content (the Who What When Where and Why of the story.) Bookworms are not actual worms. :)
